Office of Instruction

A message from the Office of Instruction:

Welcome to Butte College!

Butte Welcomes You Not Racism

Butte College is committed to supporting and addressing equity on our campus to ensure our students, faculty, and staff are heard, respected, and included. The campus is engaged in open and honest dialog to better support our students and colleagues of color. While these may be difficult conversations, this dialog is absolutely necessary and we invite you to join us. Learn more at our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion page and consider joining our Diversity Committee

We have provided multiple presentations with our partnership with USC Race and Equity Center, and equity-minded instruction and anti-racist practices from previous guest speakers Dr. Edward Bush, President of Consumnes River College in Sacramento and Dr. Kathy Obear, consultant for Equity, Inclusion & Social Justice. You will have an opportunity to view these two presentations for Flex credit, additional information is forthcoming to the Professional Development website.

Erik Shearer, Vice President of Instruction and Chief Instructional Officer, provides oversight of curriculum development, program planning, enrollment and schedule management, and evaluation of all instructional programs. The Office of Instruction staff includes Christie Boggs, Assistant to the Vice President, and Heather Rau, Cindy Pickett, and Shelly Knifong, Curriculum and Scheduling Analysts. The Office of Instruction is located in SAS 214. The main phone line is (530) 895-2547.
